The challenges :

The achievement :

  • Develop optimized code

  • Develop simple to use tools for my teammates

  • Work on both the GD and the Prog part

  • Developping a fun experience for mobile

  • Discovering the rôle of tech GD

Pork Paradise is an endless runner type of game for mobile devices created by students.

In the game, the player's goal is to collect as many coins as possible while avoiding obstacles on it's path.

Our team during the production of this student project was composed of :

  • 4 game designers

  • 4 artists

  • 1 external help from the industry that help us when we encountered high level coding issues on Unity (C#).

My role here was to imagine and develop systems that would allow the level designer and the artists to do their jobs as efficiently as possible.

But also developing systems that would recreate the vision of what the game should be in the eyes of the game designers.

And all of that using Unity C#.

Here is some examples of what I did during this project :

  • had to develop the 3Cs (Camera, Character, Controller).

  • Had to develop a system of procedural generation that could work prefectly with the vision of the level designer.

  • Had to develop a in-game soft currency system.

  • Had to develop a bonus system that would engage the player to play even more the game.

  • Had to develop a simple to use audio system for everyone to be able to use it.

I surely encountered some issues during the production of the project.

That's why I asked for [Yoann Dijoux] to come on the project as a support role for me as a programmer.

His help was a must have for us during the production, helping me solving critical bugs in unity.

Yet this project game me the ability to see what's a technical role like in the industry.

It was a very interesting experience to live at least once and I'm glad to have worked on this project.
